Server Etiquette and Conduct
Where possible remember to greet our guest joining the server this will make them feel welcomed and at ease. This sheds a very positive light on the squad in general and insures a friendly and fun atmosphere for all.
Try to keep the teams balanced. If possible join the same side/color as your squad.
Typing in public or private chat during game play should be limited to compliments, strategies and game setup, but we understand that fun is still key.
Typing anything demeaning, degrading, vulgar or otherwise improper is strictly prohibited in the server. This includes i.e.: !@#$ and !@#$.
This sheds a very bad light on [ÐÐ]™ as a whole. Dancom Delta is well known throughout the Community as squad that provides clean, fast and friendly servers for our members and for making our guest feel welcomed when joining the server and during game play.
Complaints during game play should be conveyed through Ventrilo, X-Fire, private forum or e-mail. Latency (LAG) is always present No one has a perfect connection. (See subtext below)
When playing in a [ÐÐ]™ server your tags should be worn at all times. Be proud to wear them, there is a lot of history and respect that go with them.
Any problems (serious) that may arise in the server during game play should be directed to a member of [ÐÐ]™ HQ.
Servers are provided for the enjoyment of members and guest keep this in mind at all times.
"Base Raping and "Spawn Raping"
This was term that was unfairly coined back in the original Delta Force (DF1) platform in match play. Inferior squads or less skilled squads who came to a match unprepared and had not basic battle plan would become lock down in their base. The original stock maps in DF1 had pretty tight re-spawn that enabled a team of eight players to surround a spawn area and close in a team.
There are many squads and players that complain that other squad “Base Rape” or “Spawn Rape” and consider this cheating. [Dancom Delta] takes the position that the term “Base Rape” or “Spawn Rape” is an excuse for lack of teamwork and a lack of understanding of warfare tactics.
[DD] Map Engineers go through several map redesigns to give relief to spawn sights and place several spawn areas around the home base. They do this with great care to make sure not to comprise the over all game. We also use PSP as another way of opening up a map, but again it takes teamwork and team play to hold and keep PSP’s.
How to combat “Base Rape” or “Spawn Rape”? First join a squad. Second join a good squad. Third use voice chat program like Team Speak or Ventrilo.
Fourth learn the maps that
you play on, this is a big
advantage in playing any FPS
game. Last but least
Teamwork. If you feel that
our server is playing
unfairly or we are
conducting ourselves with
lack of sportsmanship please
contact [DD] and discussed your issues. We here at [DD] pride ourselves in running a top-notch gaming environment. When you play on [DD] servers you are guarantee to have a good time, but come prepare to play hard. If you want to chat and socialize come early. When 10:30pm eastern comes around [DD] is looking for blood.
Latency or Lag
Peeps bare with me while I
ramble on about this
subject, I think some peeps
need to know what can cause
this and how to deal with
it. Ok latency or "LAG" as
most of you know it, is the
cause of a lot of
misunderstandings in online
gaming. NO ONE has a perfect
connection or a perfect
setup, both can cause the
well know lag. I will start
out with the "Net" the major
cause of lag right now. The
internet at any given time
has lag, it could be a
router problem a CO problem
you name it, it happens.
Data is being routed and
re-routed all the time
trying to find you the
shortest route to your
request and in this routing
"packets" (bits of info) can
be lost or dropped. When
this occurs it takes more
time to resend and to
receive the info you need
for a process to happen thus
the lag issue occurs. This
is happening all the time.
One day you might visit a
site at blazing speeds
another day you could smoke
a cig before the freaking
page loads. Time of day and
day of the week also has an
effect on the net ( just
like traffic jams in the
morning and afternoons ),
everyone has to keep this in
mind while doing online
gaming. There are times in
the game where you might see
something and someone else
right next to you will not
see ( an object or person
warping ) again this is a
latency issue.
Everyone connects to a
server, everyone lives at a
different location and
everyone has some lag, some
more than others and some
less. This can change at any
moment, you could be wiping
the board clean and the next
you can't kill squat. All of
this occurs all of the time,
the internet is changing all
of the time, please keep
this in mind. Now for the
setup ( your computer )
issues with lag, this is
also a major problem with
gamers. First I will start
out with how much resources
you have free ( this is a
significant factor ). What I
mean by this is, how much
ram, disk space and
processor bandwidth you have
available to dedicate
towards your online gaming.
Simply put the more you have
the faster the information
going and coming to your
computer during gaming will
be processed. The less your
computer has to handle
non-game related at that
moment the lower your setup
lag will be.
Even
though lag is measured in
milliseconds those
milliseconds will determine
how enjoyable your gaming
will be. The more
ram/memory, free disk space
and processor bandwidth you
have available the faster
your game will run. On to
another factor, your video
card this can be the evil of
all during gaming. The
faster cards have a lot of
onboard ram, the more
onboard ram the card has the
less the overflow to your
comp ram. The higher the
settings on your video card
the slower/ hotter it runs
thus also causing lag ( this
form is know as video lag ),
everyone has had this
problem. I ask that peeps
check their cards and set
them to a medium setting or
a lower setting if you are
running it at a high
setting, bets are you will
enjoy the game more. There
are some card tweaks out
there, if you decide to use
any of them just get one
which will alter the clock
speed of the card ( so it
processes info faster ) I
would avoid the tweaks that
alter any other settings.
Well this might not have
been new info for some
(didn't what to get too
techy and split atoms ) but
I hope some would think
about the info I just
spatted out and work with
it. In closing I just want
peeps to remember EVERYONE
has lag some more than
others some less. There are
a lot of factors to consider
when playing online, all
anyone can do it try to keep
there comp clean and tweaked
and remember EVERYONE has
lag.
